An Attendant Care Assessment is a vital part of the recovery process for individuals who have sustained injuries in a motor vehicle accident. Conducted by a registered Occupational Therapist, this assessment determines the level of personal care assistance a person requires due to accident-related impairments.
The assessment focuses on the individual’s ability to manage essential daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, feeding, and medication management. It considers both physical and cognitive challenges that may affect the person’s independence.
At Vitality, the therapist performs a thorough physical, cognitive and psychological evaluation, often including input from family members, caregivers, and medical professionals. The findings are documented in a detailed report using the Form 1 – Assessment of Attendant Care Needs, which is submitted to auto insurance providers in accordance with Ontario’s Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS).
